How many Bibles do you have in your home? If you conducted a hard search you probably have multiple copies. We just take for granted having the Bible in the English language. It was not always this way. To have the Bible in English was a crime in early history.
Are you aware that there was a man that was so committed to translating the Bible into English that he paid with his very life? He was sentenced to death for defying the Pope by printing the Bible in English.
That person is William Tyndale. He has been renowned as “the father of the English Bible” and is recognized as one of the major leaders of the English Reformation. He became one of the most wanted men in England and all of Europe, even pursued by the king himself. He was martyred October 6, 1536. And today we’re going to talk about this man who literally turned the world upside down.
